Parts needed for 1994 C90

Post by GongTong » Sun Nov 12, 2023 1:11 am

Hi guys, I'm quite new to the forum and very new to cub ownership. I need a few bits to begin tidying my new machine up and thought I'd post here to see if anyone could help. Either by selling me directly their unneeded bits, or by pointing me in the right direction.

Left hand front indicator cover.
Both mirrors. (Urgent!)
Badge for leg shield.
Choke cable.
Centre stand.
Rear Rack with pannier loops (not necessarily Rickman...)

Hoping to find original parts. Bike is candy red, but I'm pretty sure that's irrelevant for all of these bits.

I haven't started digging yet, so please don't make fun of me if I've just turned up looking for hen's teeth!

Thanks very much for taking a look. And to everyone for the content on these pages. Already a valuable resource.

Gary

Hi a useful place to look for what parts are available is the Wemoto site, just find the year of your bike and have a look. Leg shield badges are not so easy to find.

Try shirebikes or mileskingsport for legshield badge. Your ''94 will almost certainly be a C90 - P. That's what you order for. Most of the C90 -T will fit aswell. '94 legshield 'wing' OEM part No:- 87102 - GAC - 980. You'll need two rivets aswell OEM part No :- 87129 - 141 - 000.

Mirrors, you can just buy 'pattern parts'. 8mm left hand thread. Fit left or right.. just swing head round!

If you have to replace the front bake cable, I recommend you buy genuine Honda, OEM part No:- 45450 - GBJ - 000. A lot of brake problems are caused by poor quality pattern cables.... especially excessive lever travel. I know they're expensive but they work and last.

Pattern is ok for choke cable, indicators etc.

Suppliers :

Wemoto,
Shire-bikes,
Mileskingsport,
David silver,

And ebay...... careful what you buy..... some will describe that it fits.... and it won't!

Cheers Andy.

Thanks for the replies guys. Exactly the kind of advise I was looking for... And precisely BECAUSE of the fact that I know not to trust anything I see on eBay! :D

All of the above. In case you've not been told or found out - CMSNL website has all the Honda microfiche diags and part numbers, you just find your model/year and save the link. This gets you the magic numbers to search for elsewhere, sometimes you get results just Googling the number.

Another source for Honda parts and OEM parts is Webike. If you register and select Supercub 90 you get emails of offers and also lists of original parts, quite often not available elsewhere (IMHO). OK they are in Japan but some of the prices are surprisingly good and airmail prices are not that bad, mostly.
For instance the front chrome carrier for a C90 is in short supply, there are versions from Vietnam, Thailand etc but the original Honda item (under the proper part number) is still being made. I bought 2 at £10.31 each plus £12 airmail, they arrived in 9 days! Obviously the total was less than the import tax threshold but at less than £17 each for proper well made racks they were a bargain.

As to racks with pannier loops, I've never seen one that wasn't a Rickman. People either hold out for one or make their own supports to add to other racks. Others hoard them. :D
