Rickman white panniers

Post by Bobby90 » Sat Jun 10, 2023 9:51 am

Hi, I watched the video of the East Anglia ride out and saw 2 bikes with white top boxes and matching panniers.

I have the white Rickman topbox and the chrome Rickman pannier rack, cannot find the panniers anywhere though!!! Does anyone have a pair for sale with the fittings please? Iโ€™m on Suffolk.

I bought the postie red bags but want something more solid if the Rickman ones are not available if anyone can share links/ideas please ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I used the have a gs650 Dakar with all the hard panniers etc so maybe Iโ€™m expecting too much ๐Ÿ˜‚

You're not asking too much, I have an F800GT with all the luggage and a general obsession with racks, boxes and panniers. At least you have the right rack, I'm sure if you're patient a set will turn up but they are like hen's teeth now.

Might be an idea to get onto the FB C90Club Buy & Sell page and post a wanted. 2 of our members, Terry and Chris (GHiPS) had matching blue bikes with them but both sold now I believe. They are definitely the best looking of the lot IMHO.

I've also got the PO bags and also a cheapo set of Chinese black hard cases which look OKish but fill up with water. I did have a set of proper white Rickmans on a 400/4 and 500/4 in the 80's, can remember not locking a lift off lid and having to walk back miles to retrieve it once. Also losing skin off my knuckles due to the rough fibreglass inside.

Thinking about it, I'm sure they were a standard size sold as Hondastyle so maybe broaden your search to other Classic Honda groups?

Just had a laugh, Googled Rickman Panniers images and a couple of pics came up of my bike with the black Chinese set up!

Sounds like you have had some great adventures ๐Ÿ˜‚

Thanks for the advice, will check out the fb page and look at other options too. Guess Iโ€™m a few decades late to the party ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

When I was 17, we had no desire for a c90 with our Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasakiโ€™s, now we want one ๐Ÿ˜‚

Yep, riding with this lot is great fun, this years East Anglian was no exception. I was delighted to find I wasn't the oldest at nearly 72.
I too laughed at Cubs when a teenager in the 60's but bought one for my son to use 10 years ago, he emigrated, I found this forum and met some amazing people along the way. :D

One of the blue bikes with rickman panniers would have been mine, the panniers were never made for a Cub. They were a standard sized fibreglass pannier that came with different fitting kits and an were fitted to many bikes on the late seventies through to the late eighties. They did come as part of the "honda style" range, and one of my sets came with a fitting kit for a Kawasaki z900

I've managed to find 3 sets in the last few years, and had them fitted to Cubs and a Honda H100, I just found them on Ebay searching for "Rickman Panniers, vintage Panniers and Fibreglass panniers.

They do hold there Value if the seller knows how much there worth and I've seen sets change hands for ยฃ300 plus.

Good luck with the search ๐Ÿ‘

There are nearly always sets for sale at the South of England Classic Bike Show and Bike Jumble.

The next one is October, though.

Thanks for all your help, Iโ€™ve contacted the ones on eBay. Good to know Iโ€™m not looking for specific c90 panniers :) I will keep a look out at jumbles too.
