1965 Honda Cub 50 C100 needing parts
I'm located in Canada. When I was a teenager in 1966, I bought a brand new Honda Cub 50 C102 (electric start model) to ride to school. Like an unthinking teenager, I sold it a few years later in order to buy a VW Beetle. I've regretted it ever since. A few months ago, I came across a low mileage (3,300 miles) 1965 model (kick start) and am in the process of refurbing it. The bike is in running condition (starts on the first kick), and just needs some TLC and refreshing. I've already bought a new front fender (red) from Thailand, and some other small bits from a seller in California, and now am looking for some other small bits. Here's my shopping list: the long screw that holds a front signal lens in place (2 of them): the lower 'acorn nut' that holds a rear shock absorber on; the two tube-style light bulbs for the rear tail and brake lights; the two screws that hold the Honda emblem plate on the engine flywheel cover, and perhaps a method to remove rust (gasoline?) stains from a leg shield?
Anyone??
Anyone??

Thanks for the words of wecome, folks.
I've attached a few pics of my 'winter project' which is suspect may take more than ONE winter!
I have the seat re-done as well ..no pics yet.

Very nice project you have there. Good luck with it, alas I don't have any surplus spares to offer

She runs weak and smokes a wee bit on start-up (much like my wife!!!), but I don't think it needs an engine rebuild. At least I'm not prepared to tackle that yet. I'm thinking a new spark plug, and a carb cleaning / adjustment / kit will likely solve the engine issue for now. I'd like to get all the cosmetic stuff done first, along with making sure all the other mechanical bits are serviceable. Assuming the mileage (3,339) is correct (5,373 kms) ...and I have no reason (based on the overall condition of the bike) to believe that it isn't, the wear and tear on the other moving parts should be minimal. I note that it must have thrown the drive chain at one point, as the top of the chain case is all chewed up, but I have already purchased a very nice, used replacement. (I now have a spare lower chain case ...). I'd be interested in some advice on cleaning the stains off the leg shield. I've tried every chemical I can think of, with no luck. I scraped the top layer of plastic off the outer area, but it is very difficult to do a good scraping job on all the curved surfaces. At first I thought the stain was 'rust' ...but have come to the conclusion that it is from the 'amber' coloured gasoline that we use here. The stains are right in that area where the fuel overflow pipe is located. Also, the flywheel side (left or right??) aluminum cover is quite stained ..smooth, but stained. So that will need polishing out. Any suggestions??
